Hello everyone and welcome to another podcast to bring joy and entertainment to your ears.
Or at least it will do once the first episode goes up. But fear not for that episode will be launching very soon. And it is something really quite good, if I say so myself. But more on that a little bit later in this article.
What’s it all about?
Specifically it is about the craft process of writing. Writing is a skill and there are certain techniques you need to master in order to do it well, so each episode David and I will discuss those techniques and hopefully be interesting when we do it.
Similarly there is the topic of process. Each writer is different and they each have a different approach when it comes to putting words on a page. For instance David has a rigorous writing schedule. He has set times and a disciplined routine. As for myself, my schedule is a bit more – let’s say haphazard. Both approaches work for us but, at least as far as I’m concerned, it can be improved.
“A word after a word after a word is power.”
― Margaret Atwood
So the idea of talking about process is that seeing and studying the methods successful writers employ can inform and enhance your own habits and methods. Or at least get you to think critically about you own process.
In addition to the two of talking we will occasionally have other writers and poets and artists on to discuss how they approach their craft.
Okay So When Does It Air?
Right now the plan is to have one episode a month with periodic blog posts to supplement the time between. This once a month schedule is to accommodate David and I as we work out our own schedules and get studio time straight. Don’t want to over-promise and under-deliver. Once we get a few records under our belts we may try to push up the release dates to twice monthly, but that is for the future.
All that being said the first episode with be posted in a few days, and its a beauty! We were able to get a sit down with Peter Heller the author of the best-sellers The Dog Stars and The Painter as well as many other fiction and non-fiction works. He spoke with us for about 30 minutes and dove deep into his process and gave some rather insightful bits of advice. It was a real joy to record and I very excited to share it with you.
So that’s it for now. Come back again and David and I will keep you up-to-date with new records and teases for upcoming shows.
See you soon and just keep writing.
